The main function of the energy storage inverter is to handle the bidirectional transmission of energy between the AC grid and the energy storage battery.

Battery packs, flywheel batteries, etc., can not only quickly and effectively manage fluctuations in random power or tidal currents of distributed generation systems, improving a grid's ability to accept large-scale renewable energy generation (wind, photovoltaic), but can also accept scheduling instructions. This enables the absorbing and, where required, supplementing of the ‘peaks and valleys’ of a grid’s energy level, enhancing its quality and economic benefits.
In the event of a grid failure or power outage, there is also an independent network power supply function to improve the security of the load.
The energy storage system can be connected to the grid independently, fulfilling the role of peak clipping and valley and reactive power compensation.
The system can also be combined with new energy power generation to form a wind and light storage system, smoothing the power generation element of the new energy source.
The system can also be built in a load center with a new energy generation system, handling wind and photovoltaic power, to form a microgrid to improve utilization efficiency, power quality and supply reliability.
According to the type of new energy access, the energy storage microgrid system can be divided into two control modes: common DC bus and common AC bus.
The microgrid is powered by the multi-directional converter system to ensure that the power load can be operated continuously, even under a scenario of grid power failure.
